Well done Jaguars - you all made it to the end of Term 5! It was so lovely to see so many of you on our zoom calls last week. Mrs Blake and I are so proud of you all and are super impressed with your resilience and perseverance. It is now time for you to take a well earned break over the next two weeks. Have some fun, maybe try something new of pick up an old hobby you haven't had time for.
Instead of setting more work on our whole school topic, have a look at the culture passport below. Why not have a go at completing some of these over the next two weeks and securing some new skills. Let me know when you have done all 20 and you will get yourself a certificate. I will be having a break from our class emails but please do keep sending in your awesome work so I can see it when we come back for Term 6.
I know things are still a little different but you have been so accommodating and sensible with these changes and I thank you all for that.
Have a very happy half term. Stay safe, keep smiling and stay awesome!
Miss Burden :) X
A few of you have asked for some extra resources to complete at home. I have added some extra worksheets for you to complete based on maths and SPaG. These are completely optional and there is no pressure to complete them. There is also the #LitFilmFestClassroom series for you to compete if you fancy some extra english lessons. You are all doing a fab job! Keep it up!
I hope you are all doing well at home and are enjoying the sunshine. We are now into the final week of Term 5. You are all doing so well with your home learning, I really am so proud of you. I love to look through all of the work you are completing, some of you have inspired me to start my own crafts and pick up some baking. Thank you!
I have uploaded the work for the whole school topic for this week. I have had some fabulous examples of work from the first week - don't forget to send me any work you have completed to our class email: firstname.lastname@example.org
It's been so lovely to see how creative you have been getting, we have had: videos, models, creative writing, art work, powerpoints. I just want to say again how proud I am of you all.
This week we will be hosting group zoom sessions. An email will go out to your parents for them to agree to the rules and then I will send you over the details for the call. Mrs Blake and I hope to see as many of you as possible in these calls. We are very excited!
Keep working hard and stay safe,
Miss Burden :)
Term 5 Week 4
I hope you all had a lovely weekend in the sunshine and found some excellent ways to celebrate VE day.
I have uploaded your work for this week. We are changing things up a little this time. This week we are starting a whole school topic - Saving our planet. The work you have been set is similar across the school to help people with siblings and so we can all see how wonderful you all are.
There are lots of ideas on here for you to complete. Don't forget to continue using your normal learning resources like TTrockstars, Spelling Shed, Read Theory and Mathletics (if you need a reminder of your log in details don't forget to email me). You are all doing so well - keep going!
Maths this week will continue to work on decimals supported by your white rose lessons. You will need to follow 'Summer Term – Week 1 (w/c 20 April)'. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/
You can also continue you the El Dorado english unit from last week alongside our whole school topic. It is really important that you continue to use your SPaG skills in your writing. Always think about noun phrases, fronted adverbials and a range of sentence structures. You should edit your work just like you would in school - try to use a different coloured pen and read through your work at least 3 times to check it is exactly how you would like it.
Don't forget to send me all of your fabulous work and if you have any concerns please do let me know and I will try to help you.
Keep being awesome!
Miss Burden :)
Hello my wonderful Jaguars,
I hope you are all well. Although the sunshine seems to be making fewer appearances, I hope you have still been able to get outside - even if we've had to dig out our coats again!
I have uploaded your next weeks work pack. If you didn't get to complete all of last weeks then don't worry - you can always pick up multiple activities and complete them alongside each other. Remember to send me your work - I love seeing what you've been up to. On that note I just wanted to say I am so incredibly proud of you all. The work I have been sent has been amazing and shows just how hard you are all working and how motivated you have been! Thank you all for being such excellent learners!
I have added a new English topic for you to complete alongside your other learning. Lessons are released each day through a youtube video but we are starting a little later so all the videos for the first week are already available. Let me know how you find it and how you're getting on.
Once again, remember how awesome you all are! I am so proud of you all.
Miss Burden :)
Term 5 week 2
Hi Jaguars - we are mixing things up a little this term. I will be uploading work onto our class page weekly for you to complete. There are lots of different activities for you to do throughout the week and guide on how often you could be doing them.
Don't forget to show me your awesome work by emailing me - email@example.com. I love seeing what you've been up to. I'm just at the end of an email to answer any of your questions. Please let me know if you require a hard copy of any work - we will try our best to get this to you.
Keep an eye on our school twitter for updates on other learning resources we are recommending alongside this.
Miss Burden :)
Maths work packs -
Here are some work books for you to work through if you have finished all of the maths work set for the week.
Hello my lovely Jaguars! How are you all? I hope you all had a lovely easter and spent lots of time in the sunshine.
We are now starting term 5 - however it's still a little bit different to normal. Don't worry though, we will still be able to achieve many wonderful things and learn so much! I have attached your next learning grid below for you to make a start on. I am also going to start adding more work here for this term including some new maths topics. I know you were all so keen to carry on with percentage and decimals so I have included a range of topics. Make sure you are logging on to Mathletics to complete the assignments I have set and why not challenge me on TT rockstars?
The spelling powerpoint will stay on our webpage for you to make a start on. Why not use the techniques in this powerpoint to help you with words you know you frequently get stuck on?
Remember to use our class email to stay in contact with me and Mrs Blake. We miss you a lot and love seeing and hearing all the wonderful things you have been up to. If you have any worries, concerns or questions send them through to me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Remember you are all superstars - we are very proud of you and your commitment to your learning.
Miss Burden and Mrs Blake :)
You have all been working so incredibly hard over the last few weeks and I am so proud of you all. Some of you have sent me some amazing pieces of writing and showing off your fabulous English skills.
I have created a pack for you here with 10 activities to complete based around two texts. You could do one activity a day, combine a few into one day or complete a couple every few days. Make sure you send me your work so I can see just how awesome you all are. I am checking the class email (firstname.lastname@example.org) everyday and am loving seeing everything you have been up to!
As always, if you are stuck on anything or need any help, please email me!!
After a very relaxing easter, I am very excited to be back in contact with you all. I am so happy the sun in shining and I can spend some time in my garden - I have been reading lots whilst sitting in the sunshine.
I ordered myself some colouring books to keep me entertained in the evenings and it has been very relaxing. I've used pencils and felt tips to practice some of the techniques we learnt when we looked at Paul Cezanne. Have any of you tried different art techniques?
In true Miss Burden style, I have also been listening to lots of music and dancing around my house whilst spring cleaning. What music have you been listening too whilst you've been away?
This week I have been settling into our new routine. I have been planning some more exciting work for you to complete, I have organised lots of things around my house, I have been experimenting with different recipes for dinner this week and most importantly, I have been loving reading your emails and seeing all the exciting work you have been completing at home.
I have even been practicing my timestables on TT rockstars. Make sure you log in and practice yours too - I might have even set you a sneaky challenge. Feel free to challenge me back!
Be sure to email me all the wonderful activities you have completed this week and keep me updated: email@example.com
This is where you will be able to see and access all of your home learning ideas. They will also have been sent home with you in your very own floor books. Make sure you use the class email to send me pictures and scans of the work you have been doing at home so I can share it here for other people to enjoy. You can also use that email if you need any further support with your learning - email me and I will try to be as helpful as possible!
Make sure you use the links below to log in to the useful websites and practise your learning in different ways. If you have forgotten or lost your log in, then email me and I will be able to send them back to you.
Stay safe and healthy. You're all superstars!
Miss Burden & Mrs Blake :)
The work packs you have received will provide you with lots of different learning opportunities. Make sure you put in maximum effort when you are completing them so I can see your very best work. Keep checking back here because I will be uploading further work for you. I will also be setting work on mathletics to help consolidate your maths understanding.
I have attached a suggested timetable for the day. Whilst you do not have to stick to this, I think its really important that you complete something active to start your day. Joe Wicks is completing half hour live sessions at 9AM every morning - why not give these a go?
It is also really important that you use this time away from school to master different skills - it may be some cooking or baking, something creative, learning a new language or mastering a particular sport. Whatever it may be, ensure you spend enough time on it to become a master!
