Term Six - Week Four
Week beginning Monday 29th June 2020
We hope that you have all had a lovely weekend and are looking forward to another (hopefully) sunny week.
The children who returned to school last week were amazing! They all settled in to the new routine quickly and enjoyed being with their friends and sharing their news from home.
We hope that those at home are continuing to enjoy this unique time with their families and are having fun sharing new experiences, fun and special times.
Below is the next whole school topic and this week the influential person is...
Sir Ernest Shackleton! We hope that you enjoy learning about the achievements of this man.
We have also included another tab called 'Handa's Surprise'. In school, we will be reading and thinking about this story. We have added the work that we will be doing in school here, so if you fancy having a look at this, please take a look.
Please do email your work to Dolphin@aldington.kent.sch.uk for Mrs Ridge to look at, she loves hearing from you! Please also email her with questions, queries and news. As always, if you need any help accessing the home learning, please do drop us a line.

On Monday 22nd June, we will be welcoming back some children from Dolphin Class. We cannot wait to see the children and have been working hard to accommodate them in their new classrooms. We thought it would be nice to show you photographs of the new classrooms so that if your child is returning, they can see the differences before their arrival. Looking forward to seeing you on Monday!

Term Six - Week Three
Week beginning Monday 22nd June 2020
We are really looking forward to welcoming some of you back this week and know that you are all going to be able to adapt to our new classrooms, teachers and day to day activities like superstars! Both Miss Gates and Mrs Russell are eager to get to know you more and work with you over the next few weeks.
For those of you staying at home with your family, we are still here, as ever, to support you. Please find below the home learning grid for this week. The first part of this new whole school topic is entitled 'Inspirational People' and our first person is Leonardo da Vinci. We now have a dedicated Key Stage One/EYFS grid to better support our younger children.
I have also included in the PSHE link under the grid a topic that we will be looking at in school. This topic is based around the book, 'The Colour Monster'.
Please do send in your word to the dolphin email address (Dolphin@aldington.kent.sch.uk) as Mrs Ridge is on hand daily to receive your messages. Also, please do let us know if we can offer any further support or if you are having any trouble accessing the home learning.

Home Learning Passport
As a school, we have been thinking about new ways that you can use your learning time at home and we have come up with the new Aldington Primary School Home Learning Passport. This passport contains lots of different life skills that you can learn to make you more independent and to help your grown-ups with little chores. Some skills will need a little help or supervision from your grown up but some you can do by yourself. Your grown-ups will decide how much supervision you will need to complete the activity - so please ask first! Some will need practise and perseverance, like learning to tie a shoe lace or learning a phone number. Once you have completed a challenge, colour in the block. Once you have completed all the challenges, take a photograph and send it to email@example.com where you will receive a certificate for all your great efforts.
Good luck! We hope you enjoy your challenges.
Week beginning 18th May 2020
Dear Dolphins, parents and carers,
How are you all? We hope that all is well and you have been enjoying the activities we have been putting up for you in the new whole school topic grids. Here is the grid for this week with links below for further information.
We are really looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible this Thursday with our class Zoom get-togethers. There were a couple of documents sent via Parent Mail last week for you to look at and reply by the end of Tuesday. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have not received these.
We still love hearing all about the fun activities you have been getting up to at home. Please do keep in touch.
You are all doing an amazing job at home. We are so unbelievably proud of you all.
As always, please, please do get in touch if you are having any problems at home accessing the learning either because of IT issues or if you are finding it difficult to motivate your child with the ideas that we are sharing. These really are very challenging times for us all and we want you to know that we are here to support you in any way that we can.
Take care and looking forward to seeing you via Zoom on Thursday,
Mrs Gadd, Miss Perkins and Mrs Ridge
Well, where do I start? I am so impressed with you all. Thank you for all the updates that you have been emailing. It brightens up my day to hear from you and to catch up with all the fun things that you have been getting up to - from going on bike rides to having puppet shows, making tasty biscuits to writing posters. You are all incredible! The work that you are sending through is fantastic and you should all be very proud of yourselves.
But learning is not just about putting pen to paper, it is also about learning life skills and learning through play. There are so many other learning opportunities that you are experiencing too.
I hope you are all enjoying seeing each other on the Dolphin Class photo gallery (link above) and seeing what one another have been getting up to.
Well, here is another home learning pack with lots of fun activities. They are based around the story Stanley's Stick by John Hegley. I bet you've picked up a stick before to play with. What was your stick? Was it a fishing rod or a magicians wand, or something else?
I hope you have fun with the activities. As always, please drop me a line if I can help in any way and please let me know if you are having problems accessing the learning if you do not have a printer.
Take care and stay in touch.
Mrs Gadd and Miss Perkins
Welcome back everyone!
I hope that you have all had a wonderful Easter and have enjoyed the fantastic weather we have been having. It's been so nice to spend time in the garden, watching the flowers grow and the leaves and blossom appear on the trees. I'm sure that there have been some chocolate eggs eaten too!
So here is the second home learning pack for you. It is all based around the book, 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. I have filmed myself reading the book to you. Please follow the link in the English tab below to hear the story. I hope you enjoy it!
There are separate tabs for the different areas of learning. Any problems, please email me at Dolphin@aldington.kent.sch.uk
This pack will cover two weeks of learning.
Many thanks, Mrs Gadd and Miss Perkins
Well, we have come to the end of term four. Where has the time gone?
We know that this is an unusual way to end the term and we hope that you are all enjoying this special time with your family.
Miss Gates and Mrs Gadd have come up with some fun activities for you and your families to take part in during the Easter break. We would love to see photos of your antics so please do email them to Dolphin@aldington.kent.sch.uk.
We hope that you enjoy your Easter break and we're hoping for sunny days and lots of outdoor fun.
Take care Dolphins - Happy Easter!

Teach Your Monster to Read.
This fantastic app is an award-winning phonics and reading game that's helped millions of children. Children love making their monster and teaching it to read. Children create a monster and take it on a magical journey over three extensive games - meeting a host of colourful characters along the way and improving their reading skills as they progress.
The games complement Phases 2-5 of the UK Government approved Letters and Sounds which is the scheme the school use to teach phonics.
For a limited time the app is free! It usually costs £4.99 so this is a real opportunity.
There is also a free website too:
Thank you for all your messages and sharing pictures of the fun activities you have been doing at home. Can you see your photo? You are ALL home learning heroes and we couldn't be prouder of you! Keep the news coming in to the Dolphin email address Dolphin@aldington.kent.sch.uk and let's share some more adventures.
Keep checking back for news and information. The next learning grid will be up soon for more home learning ideas for after the Easter break. Don't forget to check out the Aldington Primary School YouTube channel where there are some videos from the teachers and more on the way!
The Adventures of Echo the Dolphin.
Echo smuggled himself in Mrs Gadd's bag and has been helping out in the Gadd household. He has been having fun with Arthur making a fairy garden and enjoying the sunshine. He has been helping Mrs Gadd with her work and has enjoyed reading all of the emails coming in from his Dolphin Class friends. Echo has been keeping a close eye on Mrs Gadd's bean plant. Look at how much it has grown in a week! Echo says that is is 19cm tall. How tall is yours?
