Q. Should my child bring a bag into school?
A. Your child is welcome to bring in a school bag. This could be an Aldington book bag or an alternative book bag/rucksack. The children will need to bring in their PE kit - this will remain in school for the duration of the term.
Q. Does my child need a PE kit?
A. Changing independently is a key skill and children need to ‘Be increasingly independent as they get dressed and undressed, for example, putting coats on and doing up zips.’ (Department for Education, Development Matters, Revised July 2021). PE kits remain in school for the duration of the term and are sent home on the last week of each term. If they do become dirty, we will send them home earlier and ask that they come back in ready for our next PE lesson. PE will happen on a Tuesday. For guidance on PE kit please see ‘Parents’ section of the school website (Parents – School Uniform).
Q. Does my child need a pencil case?
A. No.
Q. Will there be homework set this year?
A. Yes, later in the year, home learning challenges/family challenges will be sent out and also displayed on the website.
Q. How do I contact Miss Jackson?
A. I am available most days after school if you would like to discuss anything. Alternatively you can arrange a meeting via the office.
The office email is: office@aldington.kent.sch.uk
The office telephone number is: 01233 720247
Q. Are snacks provided at school?
A. Children in Year R - 2 are provided with a fruit or vegetable snack each day. If you would prefer, you are welcome to send your child in with a fruit or vegetable snack for mid-morning. The children also have the option of having a cup of milk. On the week they turn 5, milk will no longer be free. If you would like your child to continue having milk, please contact CoolMilk to arrange payment. We do ask that the children come into school each day with a clearly named water bottle, filled with water. We have access to fresh water in the classroom and spare water bottles if necessary.
