Welcome back to Term 5! We hope you have had the most amazing Easter break and are ready for some super learning.
Our curriculum question this term is, 'How do things move?'. Our focus will be on the text, The Train Ride by June Crebbin. We will be writing fiction and non-fiction pieces about vehicles and journeys we have been on. We will also be learning about the life cycle of a butterfly!
In Maths, our focus will be on cardinality and counting. We will be working on our counting skills, our ability to recognise numbers to 5 in different formations without counting and we will be developing a deeper knowledge of numbers to 20. As well as all of this, we will be developing our understanding of patterns.
Our PE day this term will be on a Monday. Our lessons will be delivered by Liam from Elite Community Coaching.
If your child is still prone to wetting accidents, please can you ensure a spare pair of clothes are provided. Although we have spares, some of the children prefer to be in their own clothes. A reminder that if your child has come home in spare school clothes, please can these be returned.
Our Forest School days this term are: Friday 30th April, Friday 14th May and Friday 28th May. Please can you ensure the children come to school in clothes appropriate for outdoor learning. Although the weather might be warmer and the ground dryer, the children will need a long sleeve top and trousers to protect their arms and legs. The children will need wellies for wet weather but if it's dryer, an alternative pair of shoes is fine. They will need an indoor pair of shoes if it's raining or has been muddy.
Hats and Sun cream:
As we head into warmer weather, please can I ask that the children bring in a sunhat where possible. This will remain in school, in their trays. If this is not possible, we do have some hats in school.
If you would like your child to apply sun cream during the day, they will need to do this independently.
In Other News:
We are so excited to say that Mr Head will be joining us again for the next four weeks. He will be teaching in Panda Class at times as well as experiencing life across the rest of the school. His final day with us will be Wednesday 19th May.
If you are still reading, well done you! This term, the adults in Panda Class are: Miss Jackson, Mrs Ridge (every other Tuesday afternoon), Miss Burchfield, Mrs Burden and we are excited to say that Mr Phillpott will now be working as one of our TAs. Although Mrs Penfold won't be working in Panda Class anymore, we will still see her around the school.
All of the adults are so excited to start Term 5 and we hope the children are too! Happy Monday!
