Book Week 5th-9th October

AliceTo commemorate 150 years of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland’ we are having this as our theme for Book Week.

The dates on the original letter got a little muddled, so please note the correct dates are as follows:

We will also be running a competition during the week – to think of the most creative way to use a teapot and present the idea in an actual teapot!

Please ensure your child’s name and class are clearly marked on the work and please ensure all entries are taken to school by 9am, Wednesday, 7th October.

On Thursday, 8th October the children are invited to come to school dressed as a character from Alice in Wonderland.

Assessment Information

Thank you to those parents and families who were able to attend the Assessment meeting on Tuesday 30th June. The meeting was held because this is such an important issue which is the result of the significant changes the DfE have made to both the National Curriculum and the assessment system. It is also important as the information shared will help parents and carers to understand the information coming out in the school reports next week.
I appreciate this is not the same as hearing the information first hand therefore, do please raise any questions you have directly with me. I am aware there is some misinformation being shared which will only create unnecessary anxiety for parents and carers.

Easy Fundraising Reminder

Don't forget that you can help raise money for Aldington Primary School while you shop.  Easyfundraising is quick and simple and costs you nothing extra.  There is now a donation reminder that you can download to your computer; this gives you a reminder when you visit a participating retailer's website and if you make an eligible purchase you will be helping to raise money for the school.

Please click here for more information: Donation Reminder Information

You can also help raise money when booking travel arrangements or holidays. Please click here to see if you could help raise money for the school at no extra cost to you,

Easy Fundraising

Many of you will be aware that you have been able to raise money for the School just by doing your online shopping through the Spend and Raise website.  This site has recently changed its name to Easy Fundraising and can be accessed through the link below.

Easy Fundraising will still offer the same wide range of online retailers with various levels of commission available to the School.  Please pass this information on to friends and family so they can also use the site to do any online shopping which will give us the opportunity to use any commission raised to purchase new school equipment. Happy Shopping!

Power up to Recycle Challenge

The ‘Power Up To Recycling Challenge’ is back for a 4th year, however, this year rewards are available! We will be rewarded with vouchers towards school resources based on the weight of the batteries we collect. The challenge runs from 1st September 2015 to 8 January 2016. So from September, please send all your old batteries in with your child to place in the collection box at the playground door.
